The Announcement

Last week, Mayor Paul Whorrall announced he would not be seeking re-election. I have had the great honor of serving on the Village Board for the past seven years with Paul, including the past two as his Deputy Mayor.

I have learned much from him over those years and share his great love for and dedication to the Village of Manlius. I think we can all agree that during his tenure in local office and as a 50-year volunteer fire department member, he has made our village a better place.

I would like the opportunity to continue that legacy. Therefore, today, I announce my candidacy for Mayor of our great village.

We have made great strides as a community since you first elected me to serve. Those include:

  • While I served as Chair of the Personnel Committee, we recruited and hired highly skilled professionals to elevate the quality of programs and services offered to residents in our various departments.
  • The Main Street Revitalization Committee, on which I serve, successfully applied for and received grants to upgrade building facades on Seneca Street – leading to a ripple effect of investment from property owners and developers who upgraded their buildings and created new business spaces.  We also used grant monies for welcome signs to the village, the LED information sign at The Point and murals depicting our village’s history on many buildings throughout the village and in the Village Centre.
  • As Chair of the Parks and Rec Advisory Board, we devised a parks improvement plan to fix up and spotlight our many wonderful parks. The new playground equipment at Mill Run Park has been completed with many additional projects coming soon.
  • Throughout my tenure on the Village Board and as a member of the Budget & Finance Committee, I am especially proud we have continually made quality of life improvements throughout the village without a tax rate increase. And, for the past two years, we reduced the tax rate by more than 10% each year with the goal of helping to offset recent increases in the town’s assessments.

I am excited to continue the work already set in motion and look forward to ensuring that the vision set forth by Mayor Whorral for our great Village stays in sharp focus.

As always, please reach out to me any time and please follow my campaign on my social and digital channels.

Thank you!
